What started as a few weekends visiting my sister after some big changes in my life stirred something in me I never expected, a love for the country, horses, and in particular, South Western Queensland.
I wasn’t raised on the land, and I don’t come from generations of farmers. But every Christmas growing up was spent at my Aunty Pam and Uncle’s cattle farm in Kin Kin, Queensland. Maybe that’s why falling in love with the country felt so natural.
I’ve always loved horses, motorbikes, getting dirty and days that leave you exhausted in the best possible way. Looking back, those have always been the things that filled my cup. I just hadn’t found the place that wrapped them all into one life.
And candles aren’t new to me either.
Before Gracie Collection, I spent six years building an Australian candle business from the ground up. I learnt the ins and outs of fragrance, wax, burn performance and, most importantly, what makes a candle one that you buy over, and over again.
After selling that business in 2022, I took a few years away from the candle industry.
So, now I am back! But this time, with a little more life behind me and a much clearer idea of what I wanted to make.
Gracie Collection - Country Edition was born from those two loves coming together: creating beautiful things and all things country.
I might not have generations of country blood behind me, but there’s a plan, if I sell enough candles, one day I’ll buy a little piece of land and start those generations myself.
Slightly ambitious? Maybe.
Until then, I’ll keep bottling the places, people and memories that made me fall in love with this life.
